THE ILLINOIS CHAPTER OF THE NATIONAL EMERGENCY NUMBER ASSOCIATION Award Nomination Process

The Illinois Chapter of the National Emergency Number Association (INENA) is comprised of public safety professionals throughout Illinois whose mission is to foster the technological advancement, availability, and implementation of the universal emergency number 9-1-1 in the State of Illinois.

Achievement of this goal requires the active involvement of all Illinois NENA members, and at times requires significant efforts of those members, as well as non-members, to further and/or accomplish objectives in support of our mission.

INENA also relies on the support of members of the community at large that may not be Illinois NENA members, but may play an important role in the support and attainment of its goals. While it is not a requirement for any recipient to be an INENA member, we encourage everyone to become a member to share their energy and drive with the organization.

This is YOUR opportunity to nominate an individual or a group of people you feel have demonstrated the type of activity that best illustrates the mission and goals of Illinois NENA over this past year. Please take this opportunity to recognize the hard work and dedication your counterparts, staff members, or others you know in the industry who have made a difference in the 9-1-1 industry in Illinois.

Congratulations to

David Tuttle,

2021 INENA Excellence

Award Winner.

David has spent almost 40 years in the industry working himself up from a Telecommunicator to Director. While excelling at his job, he has volunteered so much of his time, energy, and passion for 911 by being an integral part of making the needs of 911 known in the state and fighting to make our legislators and public aware of the value of quality 911. He has fought for current 911 infrastructure upgrades, statewide dispatcher training so every agency from the less populated rural to big city can have quality personnel, he has worked tirelessly to prove that funding increases are necessary so EVERY public safety agency throughout the state can offer the same quality and excellence in 911 serviceIn the words of our very own INENA Vice President Diana Stiles, “To know David is to know someone who is selfless, honest and giving. His knowledge of 911 is invaluable and his retirement is a big loss to those of us who have worked with him and for the state in general.” David has spent many years volunteering his time and demonstrating his EXCELLENCE as a representative on the Joint Illinois NENA/Illinois legislative committee, the State Advisory Board, INENA Board, IPSTA Committee and a 911 professional resource for so many both locally and nationally. In 2016, David was the honored recipient of the National NENA Presidential Leadership Award. And while David is the one in the spotlight at the moment, we also thank David’s wife Susan and his family for sharing him with all of us, and supporting his efforts and time away from home over the past 35 years

Congratulations to

Cindy Barbera-Brelle,

Being in this position is seldom easy; however, Cindy has shown that she is the consummate professional and the right person for the position. She is fair and impartial with every decision she makes, holds herself to the highest standards, fights tirelessly for the betterment of 911 throughout the state, maintains integrity, and has made it her mission to make sure we have the most up to date statewide infrastructure, NG911, and texting and GIS across Illinois. Cindy, we want to let you know that we appreciate you, your efforts, your support, and everything she do for the 911 Public Safety family.

Congratulations to Kevin Diulia, 2021 INENA Thank You Award Winner.
